Rumblings that Notre Dame women’s basketball stars Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo didn’t get along have been around almost since Hidalgo arrived on campus. Those rumblings got quieter during the 2023-24 season mainly because Miles was hurt and the Irish were Hidalgo’s team. However, they returned this season and got louder as Niele Ivey’s squad struggled down the stretch. Now it appears one ND fan might have captured proof there was strife on the team in 2024-25.

Said fan, a X/Twitter user that goes by katemartinlov3r, posted a recent video of the two reuniting earlier this week at a WNBA game, and it doesn’t appear the reunion was a happy one.

Video of Miles and Hidalgo raises new questions for Notre Dame

The video shows Miles, who transferred in the offseason to TCU and Hidalgo who will enter her third season at Notre Dame in the fall, talking down in one of the tunnels at the game. At first the conversation looks friendly, but soon it because obvious that it either wasn’t friendly at all, or something was said that sparked some heat.

Eventually, Hidalgo can be seen first taking a few steps toward Hidalgo and then pointing rather emphatically. Miles also starts gesturing and pointing out herself quizzically.

It appears at some point the conversation got heated enough that a security guard had to come over and get in the middle, diffuse the situation and tell both women to move out of the area.

It’s one of those conversations that those of us looking in from the outside will never likely get the full story about but it does beg the question. Was this kind of strife prevalent on the team towards the end of the season?

Right after Notre Dame lost in the NCAA Tournament, failing to get to the Elite Eight yet again, Sonia Citron gave her opinion as to why the Irish couldn’t get out of the Sweet 16 despite having so much talent on the roster. Citron believed there was “too much” talent.

It seemed rather obvious at the time she meant there were too many personalities clashing at Notre Dame. The video showing Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo’s less than positive interaction seems to back that up in a big way.
