3 reasons why Brady Koehler's addition to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is massive
While most people in and around South Bend are focused on the football team right now, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team is having a good week. On Monday, Marcus Shrewsberry hauled in a new commit.
Not only did he land himself another commit, but Brady Koehler was a pretty massive addition for a program that is still very much in rebuilding mode. Just why is this such a massive get for the Irish?
Brady Koehler is among the best in the state of Indiana
It’s not talked about enough, but the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are smack dab in the middle of one of the most talent-rich states in the country when it comes to basketball. The Blue and Gold have been paying special attention to in-state recruiting of late.
While they haven’t always won the battles they wage in the state, they won a big one this week. According to the 247Sports Composite ratings, Koehler is inside the top 100 players. He’s also the seventh-best power forward and 6th best player in the state of Indiana for his class.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish land their first 2025 commit
In addition to Shrewsberry landing an in-state prospect, he’s also got his first high school commit for the 2025 class.
As the Irish head coach continues to try and build his team back up to an ACC power, he is going to lean on transfers, however he’s also going to be working hard to get high school talent to come to town.
The Irish stole Koehler away from ACC and Big Ten powers
Koeheler chose the Irish over some rather big name teams. Not only did they beat out Northwestern and Iowa, but they also took out Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
The commitment of Brady Koehler is a massive step forward for the Notre Dame Fighting irish basketball team and a big win for Marcus Shrewsberry.
