The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball is trying to rebuild quickly and maybe even be a contender in the 2024-25 season. But the team is also working hard to be a contender in the near future. And getting someone like Trey McKenney on board would go a long way in that regard.

McKenney is a 5-star guard out of Michigan who is being pursued by some of the best programs in the country. He’s also being pursued by a program that is wanting to be up and coming. The Irish are hoping to get the shooting guard from St. Mary's in Flint Michigan but will need to fight off the best of the best if they want to land him.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team will indeed have a chance though. McKenney announced the schools he plans to visit this fall. Marcus Shrewsberry’s squad will host him this November.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball hoping for 5-star guard

Shrewsberry’s crew is one of several teams getting a visit. McKenney will have a very full fall.

On September 1, he’ll be taking the first of many visits to Notre Dame’s bitter rival, USC. Then on September 21, he’ll head to see the Michigan Wolverines.

On October 4, the 5-star guard is taking a trip to see Michigan State and then on October 12 he’s seeing what Oregon has to offer.

The very busy fall continues on October 26 to visit Ohio State and then comes the November 9 trip to see Notre Dame. Finally, the prospect is wrapping up the months of visits with a December 4 stop in Omaha to see Creighton.

While the guard hasn’t said when he’s going to commit, it stands to reason the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will learn what kind of shot they have when those visits wrap up.
