While the Notre Dame football team works its way through a seasons that is supposed to include a College Football Playoffs berth, the team is also dealing with a surprise departure. Earlier this week, cornerback Jaden Mickey announced he was redshirting for the rest of the season and is transferring out once the transfer portal opens.

The announcement was seen was a shock to fans of the team, considering his playing time was pretty much unchanged from last year. While he no longer is taking part in any team activities, it appears that the veteran corner still has plenty of love for his now former teammates.

Following the Notre Dame football win over the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday, Mickey can be seen enjoying the fact that his now officially unofficial former team won the 31-24 contest.

In a video shared on social media, you can see Mickey at the edge of the tunnel giving high fives and congratulations to the currently players. He also quote tweeted the video later saying that senior corner Benjamin Morrison gave him his game gloves.

The celebration showed that if nothing else, there isn’t any hard feelings between Mickey and the team. Right after the announcement, head coach Marcus Freeman said that Mickey needed to do what was best for him, and could not get upset about the decision.

Clearly it was a hard one for Mickey, as it certainly seems that he misses being in the locker room and on the field with this team.

And judging by the way the Notre Dame football team celebrated with him while he was in the stands, it looks like they miss him as well.
