Notre Dame Fighting Irish News: New football facility, new portal guard, more
- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are getting a brand new, state of the art football facility.
- Micah Shrewsberry's squad picked up a big transfer commit.
- Deuce Knigh'ts story keeps getting more interesting.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got their first very talented transfer from the portal on Wednesday as they added a veteran guard who could be quite the compliment to Markus Burton in the 2024-25 season.
Matt Allocco comes to South Bend by way of a Princeton team that won the Ivy Leagueβs regular season with a 12-2 conference mark and a 24-5 overall record. He was a key cog on that team as he posted a career best 12.7 points and 3.3 assists per game, while adding 2.9 rebounds per contest.
Allocco was a deadeye this past season as he shot 50.8 percent overall (126-248) from the field, 42.7 percent from 3-point range (47-110) and 90.9 percent from the free throw line (70-77). That made him the only 50/40/90 guy in the country who had significant playing time.
For a Notre Dame Fighting Irish squad that played better down the stretch, but still struggled mightily on offense, Allocco is a big pickup.
