Two things can be true at once for Notre Dame football and its fans as we enter the third and final day of the 2024 NFL Draft. It’s nice that Marist Liufau got to get drafted well ahead, where most analysts believed he would go. It’s also quite frustrating that cornerback Cam Hart is still sitting around waiting for a call.

There are reasons why Hart is still waiting for the call. There’s some scouts who are more than a little concerned about injury issues. There are some who wonder if he’s got the ability to stay with NFL receivers anymore. But there’s also no reason that the Notre Dame football star should be waiting until the fourth round. Especially when you consider he was one of the few Fighting Irish stars who actually had a good NFL Combine.

The good news for Notre Dame football fans who want to see Cam Hart get drafted soon is that he doesn’t seem to be sitting around much longer. He’s officially one of the best players still on most draft boards.

There has never been much of a question about Hart’s raw talent as a football player. He is long, athletic, and competitive. The biggest hurdle he had to jump over regarding his NFL upside were his medicals. Hart has had some recurring issues with shoulder injuries and would have to answer those throughout the process. But on Saturday, those medicals will mean less. At this point, he’s one of the steals of the draft.

Notre Dame football defensive back still being on the board stands out

According to ESPN, Cam Hart is now the second best defensive back still available. He’s the 9th best overall player.

There’s some talk that the New England Patriots are quite interested in Hart mainly because he’s shown he can excel in man-to-man coverage. It seems likely the Notre Dame football star won’t have to wait much longer, but it’s still a disservice that he had to wait until Saturday to hear his name called.
