Notre Dame football doesn’t get much love on College GameDay

With ESPN College GameDay in College Station this weekend, it came as no surprise that there was plenty of attention paid to the game between Notre Dame football and the Texas A&M Aggies.

What was a bit of a surprise was that almost none of the crew believes that the Fighting Irish are going to be able to beat the Aggies in Kyle Field. When it came to pick the winners, the entire panel, including guest picker Johnny Manziel chose the SEC host as the team that will be the victor.

Then it was time for the elder statesman of College GameDay and Corso was able to add a dash of sanity to the proceedings. Notre Dame football only got the win pick to win the game, though that might not be all that surprising when you consider that they came into the game with Las Vegas also believing they were underdogs.

That wasn’t the only time that Corso was complimentary about the Irish for during the College GameDay show. Earlier in the program, the veteran broadcaster picked Marcus Freeman’s squad to make it to the final four in the College Football Playoffs.

So why did literally everyone else on the panel pick the Aggies? The easy rationale is that they are in College Station. Pat McAfee especially loves to play to the crowd and probably didn’t want 100,000 fans booing them.

Texas A&M has also been a media darling this offseason, despite barely making a bowl last year, and having to welcome in a new head coach this fall.

Here’s hoping Notre Dame football can prove Corso right and the rest of the College GameDay crew very, very wrong.
