\Earlier this week, the Notre Dame football team found out they were one of the teams without a chair when the music stopped and wide receiver Jayvan Boggs named the final four schools he's considering. That's the bad news. The good news is that the Fighting Irish are still very much in the running for a wide receiver who could blunt that pain.

Marcus Freeman, Mike Brown and Mike Denbrock push hard for wide receiver Derek Meadows on a near-daily basis. The Irish pushed hard enough that they did in fact, land among his five favorites. The newly-minted 5-star pass catcher also knows when he's going to pull the trigger.

Notre Dame football has got the goods with 5-star receiver

At this point in Meadows' recruitment, there are five teams that have a shot of landing the 5-star prospect. In addition to Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia, LSU and Alabama are the final contenders. You might notice that three of the five are coming from the SEC.

That's not an accident, the SEC has come hard after the Bishop Gorman product for quite a while now. Notre Dame has known it was going to have to fight off those kinds of schools for almost as long. And now they are in the final stages of the fight.

Meadows has locked down five official visits. The wide receiver plans to announce his new school at the end of those visits.

On May 31, he'll head to Michigan. On June 7, Meadows will be at Georgia. On June 14, he'll check out Notre Dame football and South Bend. On June 18, Meadows will make his way to LSU. Finally, on June 21, he will wrap things up at Alabama.

Meadows plans on picking his school right before his senior season starts in September. The only official prediction for where Derek Meadows will end up is a 247Sports Crystal Ball for Notre Dame.
