If the Notre Dame football team has lost some ground with 4-star safety JaDon Blair, they’re going to have a chance to make it up. The Mount Tabor prospect has two visits planned for South Bend in the next few months.

There’s the official visit starting on June 11 and then there’s the unofficial visit starting this Wednesday that could give Blair a long enough look that it will basically serve as an official visit. It appears this visit is going to be very important. It could go a long way in making sure he keeps that June visit date.

There was a time when Blair was considered an almost certain lock for Notre Dame football. However, things have changed and they’ve changed quickly, according to recruiting experts. Suddenly, the team to beat is the Penn State Nittany Lions. One has to wonder why that might be.

On3 has the Irish currently running third in the race for the 4-star prospect. Penn State is given a 28 percent chance of landing him. Virginia Tech is in second place with 18.8 percent. And then there’s the Golden Domers at 13 percent.

That should shock some people, especially considering one of his most recent interviews, Blair was quite complimentary about what Marcus Freeman and company offer.

“We don’t feel like a number there,” Blair recently told Kyle Kelly. “At some schools, you feel like a number. I can tell you Notre Dame is not one of those schools.”

Notre Dame football doesn’t look at JaDon Blair like a number

This is one of the last pushes for the defensive back and it’s a safe bet that Notre Dame football will be rolling out the red carpet in a big way.

Since March 4, JaDon Blair and his family have visited Michigan, Penn State and South Carolina. They will officially visit each one of those schools in June before Jadon announces his commitment on his birthday, July 5.

Notre Dame football will be in the fight to the end, but there’s going to be some white knuckling going on this summer.
