During one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the early summer, Notre Dame football got some great news that had little to do with the Irish Invasion. After working to pull him in for months, Florida 4-star 2026 quarterback Noah Grubbs made it official with a commitment announcement.

Grubbs' announcement was a bit of a surprise as the Lake Mary, Florida prospect hadn't given any hint when he'd be pulling the trigger. However there were some signs that the time might be arriving soon.

Among those signs was a prediction by national recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong that Notre Dame football would eventually get Grubbs. Those kinds of predictions coming just days before a commitment are hardly rare.

The 6-4, 195-pound quarterback is an ultra-talented prospect with a ton of potential. Grubbs has a powerful right arm and has shown some serious development over the two years he's been a starter for St. Mary.

Grubbs led his Lake Mary squad to a 10-2 record as a sophomore. He finished 2023 with 3,670 passing yards and 49 touchdowns while throwing 10 interceptions. He also showed that he can be a weapon on the ground as he rushed for 4 touchdowns.

Grubbs is one of two quarterbacks Marcus Freeman and company zeroed in on for the 2026 class. For the last few months, it's been believed that both he and Brady Hart were very high on the Golden Domers.

A sort of race between the two Florida signal callers emerged, with the prize expected to be a spot on the roster for whichever one made the commitment call first. The big question now will be whether there is still a spot open for Hart.

With the kind of teams that have been after both quarterbacks, it seems likely Hart will move on from the Notre Dame football program.
