Notre Dame football has odd company in EA Sports College Football first Top 25

While team ratings have been released in EA Sports College Football 25 there's now an official launch Top 25. And Notre Dame football has some odd company.

There’s been a lot of talk about EA Sports College Football thanks to the world being on the cusp of the game’s long-awaited launch. On Monday, July 15, Notre Dame football users (as well as all others) who purchased the Deluxe Edition will finally play a college football video game for the first time in over a decade.

That means that there have been plenty of social media influencers who have been showing off the game this weekend. Several details have slipped out, including the game’s launch Top 25.

It should surprise no one that Notre Dame football is indeed in the first EA Sports College Football Top 25. They’re ranked 7th. Which is more love than some analysts have shown the real Irish this year. However, Marcus Freeman’s club also has some strange bedfellows.

The most surprising addition to the launch Top 25 has to be the Colorado Buffaloes. Deion Sanders’ squad finished 4-8 last season, and 1-8 in Pac-12 play, making their inclusion a real head-scratcher.

While it makes sense that CU is expected to be better, it feels like being the No. 16 ranked team in the country is beyond a bit ridiculous. We’re talking about a team that was among the worst in the country last year, being just six spots behind Notre Dame.

Another odd addition, at least as high as they are, is the Miami Hurricanes. The ACC's historical power is ranked 13th in the EA Sports College Football Top 25. Compare that to being in the low 20’s if anything at all in real-life post-spring Top 25s.

Granted, for those of us who don’t like Colorado all that much for one reason or another, perhaps EA Sports has done us a favor. We can take over the Notre Dame football team and knock the Buffs down a peg.
