There are few Notre Dame football broadcasters that are less popular among the fanbase than Jac Collingsworth. Whether it’s because he doesn’t show enough excitement or because fans just don’t see him as a member of the Fighting Irish nation, he was not well liked.

Because of that, Notre Dame fans were not at all sorry to see the NBC broadcasting team get shuffled and Collingsworth get jettisoned. It’s not just Irish fans that aren’t impressed by the work that Collingsworth did

Unfortunately for Notre Dame football faithful, if they turn on the Olympics this summer, they might have to run across Collingsworth. That’s because he’s been added to the ever growing list of broadcasters who will be calling the action in Paris, according to Awful Announcing.

Former Notre Dame football broadcaster makes unfortunate return

NBC announced this week the 29-year-old Collinsworth will be a host on Gold Zone, which will stream live on Peacock from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day from July 27 through August 10.

Other Gold Zone hosts are Scott Hanson, Andrew Siciliano, and Matt Iseman. The show will help navigate the busy Olympics schedule, bouncing from sport to sport. Colllinsworth replaces Akbar Gbajabiamila, who stepped down because of a scheduling conflict.

The son of Cris Collinsworth, NBC’s lead NFL analyst, Jac Collinsworth has worked two previous Summer Olympics for the network, as a social media correspondent in 2016 and then on Peacock’s Tokyo Tonight show in 2020.

Of course, while he’s done the Olympic stuff before, he’s best known and least liked for his job as a member of the Notre Dame football broadcasting team. He’s also well known as someone at the center of a purported nepotism push. The bright side is that while Irish fans might have to put up with him, they’ll be done with him by the time the season starts.
