With Notre Dame football’s Blue-Gold game officially in the rearview mirror, the Fighting Irish coaches can turn their attention fully to recruiting for the next couple of months. One of the guys they will have to pay quite a bit of attention to is Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng.

Of course, the Notre Dame football team has a bit of an “in” with Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, considering that his brother spent his college days in South Bend. While that’s one of the reasons the Top 100 linebacker is looking at Notre Dame football, he’s also said a lot of great things about the coaches he’s talked to so far in the recruiting process.

The Fighting Irish had their spot among the top contenders for the Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker confirmed earlier this week when Owusu-Boateng announced the 13 schools he’s still considering.

In addition to the Notre Dame football team, the talented prospect still has Stanford, Florida, Louisville, Georgia, Michigan, Texas, Florida State, South Carolina, USC, Oregon, Miami, and Ohio State. In other words, even making the Top 13, the Irish clearly have their work cut out for him. They will need to fight off some of the best programs in the country. And they don’t have a long time to do it.

The Golden Domers’ coaching staff has ramped up its recruiting quite a bit since the Pot of Gold Day. That’s a big bonus because they are hosting a ton of visitors and watching all kinds of players talk about how much they liked their visit to South Bend.

That can only help when someone like Owusu-Boateng is considering where he wants to spend his college years. Or, in this day and age, at least a year or two of his college years.

Notre Dame football just needs to keep the pressure up now that they’ve made the first cut.
