Notre Fame Football: Max Bullough leaves strong impression on top LB recruit
Notre Dame Football’s Pot of Gold day offers continue to bear fruit. Even when the Fighting Irish aren’t hauling in commitments, they are getting more and more of the 2026 prospects they offered into South Bend.
The latest instance of this comes from Port Arthur Memorial linebacker prospect Tank King. The 2026 Texas prospect was in South Bend over the weekend to take in the Blue-Gold game and see everything South Bend offers.
What he saw, quite impressed him. Especially when he had conversations with the man who would be his position coach, should he decide to become a member of the Notre Dame football team. King talked to Irish Sports Daily after his visit and it’s clear that Max Bullough left quite the impression.
“Coach Max is the best linebacker teacher I know in college right now,” he told the site.
“He actually went over my tape and broke it down,” King added. “He showed me what I could do on plays, but then he showed me their plays. He broke down the base defense because they run the same scheme as us.”
Notre Dame football linebackers coach makes great impression on highly-touted recruit
It’s clear that Notre Dame went above and beyond for King, who is going to end up one of their top targets in the 2026 class. The linebacker is currently ranked as the 8th best player in the state of Texas for the 2026 cycle. He’s also the best player at his position in the country, according to On3.
That site also makes it clear that if Notre Dame Football is going to pull King away from his home state school, they have to make up some serious ground. On3 currently has the Texas Longhorns as the frontrunners, then Houston, Texas A&M and SMU are in the running.
That doesn’t mean it’s going to be impossible to get him out of Texas. At least there are plenty of teams that thing they can. Tank King already has 17 total offers. Notre Dame Football is joined by Florida, Tennessee and Penn State as the big name schools outside the Lonestar State.
Expect the Fighting Irish to work hard to get the outstanding prospect back to South Bend early and often.
