While we wait for the Notre Dame football team to start its spring practice, there's been quite a bit of news about the digital version of the Fighting Irish. Over the last week, quite a bit of news has come out about who and what will be in EA Sports College Football 25.

There has also been some news about who will not be in it. Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman and the rest of his staff, as well as the rest of the college football coaches in the sport won't be part of the game. It turns out that means players will be able to take over his job and try and coach up guys like Riley Leonard.

The Fighting Irish's newest starting quarterback is one of the guys who will officially be in EA Sports College Football 25. Considering that players need to sign off and sign a contract accepting the terms of an NIL deal, that's still pretty big news these days.

It's also a sign that the game is going to have the kind of players that those who have been anxiously awaiting its return can be happy about. When the terms of the NIL deal first became public, people rightfully talked about how small it was.

It's not a stretch to assume that some of the sport's biggest stars might decide that they are worth more than $600 and a copy of EA Sports College Football 25. While Leonard might not be a big star yet, he's playing for one of the most well-known teams around.

If the starting quarterback is among the first players in the sport to announce he's taken the deal, one can be optimistic that everyone is going to opt in and do it relatively quickly.

EA Sports College Football 25 is expected to arrive this summer. Though exactly when is still a mystery.
