WR decommit could be sign of more bad Notre Dame football news on the way

Shaun Terry is no longer committed to the Notre Dame football team and it's possible his exit timing is a hint at more coming.

Notre Dame football got bad news on Saturday when wide receiver commit Shaun Terry decommitted. The 3-star prospect had been a commit since February, though it’s worth pointing out that his pledge was a bit of a surprise move.

It’s bad enough news when the Irish lose a player from a 2025 class that was one of the best in the country. But what’s bothering me is how the puzzle pieces seem to be coming together to hint at a bigger loss shortly.

Earlier this week, an Ole Miss recruiting analyst put in a Crystal Ball for Notre Dame football commit Deuce Knight to change schools and flip to the SEC program. This comes on the heels of the Fighting Irish being left out off the list of one of its top wide receiver targets.

Notre Dame football about to be hit by oncoming train of decommitments

Losing Terry hurts. It’s possible that losing Boggs hurts more. But the blow that would be a gut punch would be losing its grip on Knight.

The quarterback has long been considered a solid pledge to the Golden Domers. He’s done peer recruiting and told anyone who would listen that he’s playing his college ball in South Bend.

However, the dual-threat ace is from SEC country. He’s been hit by almost daily courting by Lane Kiffin and his staff with Ole Miss. And now, a wide receiver who also happens to have an offer from the Rebels is opening his recruitment back up.

Is Terry's decommitment, which coincided with the prediction that the star quarterback in his class would choose another school, a mere coincidence? It could be a correlation without causation, or it could be a sign of significant movement behind the scenes.

If things really are moving this fast, Notre Dame football will find out soon. Here’s hoping my jump to conclusions is just that.
