While all the focus is on what the Notre Dame football team will do on the field against Miami on Sunday, Marcus Freeman and Co. are also trying to work some magic off the field and on the recruiting front. Some of that magic culminated in securing a visit from one of the best offensive linemen in the 2027 class, Will Slagle.
Slagle is a 4-star prospect out of Grinnell High School (Grinnell, IA) who is considered the No. 3 player in the state of Iowa and the No. 10 interior offensive lineman in the class according to Rivals' Industry Rankings. While he's got plenty of power programs coming after him, it appears that the Iowa Hawkeyes will be the team to beat, should the Fighting Irish find a way to win the commitment of Slagle.
Why Notre Dame football is a real threat to flip a 2027 four-star offensive lineman Will Slagle
Notre Dame took a big step towards winning the recruiting battle for Will Slagle, as the Irish will host him for a visit this fall. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound (and growing) offensive lineman announced several unofficial visits he'll take for games this year, and the Golden Domers will see him when he comes to South Bend during the game against the USC Trojans on October 18.

There's still clearly a ways to go to land Slagle as he'll also visit the Iowa vs Iowa game on September 6, Georgia at Tennessee on September 13, Michigan at Nebraska on September 20, Iowa at Wisconsin on October 11, LSU at Ole Miss on October 27, Oregon at Iowa on November 8 and Alabama at Auburn on November 29.
You might have noticed that he's getting to see three Hawkeyes games during these official visits, even if the visit itself isn't dedicated to Iowa. It's clear the Notre Dame football team will need to show him why he should pair with top 2027 quarterback Teddy Jarrard and leave his home state team in the dust.
