The last Notre Dame football recruiting cycle concluded on Wednesday, February 4th with the signing of 24 prospects. Even with the latest staff changes, there is no downtime with Notre Dame football recruiting. Most of Signing Day was actually spent calling the top 2016 Notre Dame football recruiting targets. Here are a few names to keep an eye on:

Liam Eichenburg  is one of the top Offensive Tackles in the country. He plays for St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Notre Dame landed former Linebacker Dan Fox and current Offensive Linemen Jimmy Byrne from the same high school. The Irish have a great opportunity to do it again. However, they will need to beat in state power and reigning National Champion Ohio State.

Another top target is Bishop Luers Wide Receiver Austin Mack. Mack hails from the same high school as third-year Notre Dame Linebacker Jaylon Smith. The Irish appeared to be the favorite for the 4-star Wide Receiver. However, Urban Meyer has made a strong push to land the Indiana prospect.

Auston Robertson is another product out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Robertson plays for Wayne High School. Again, the Irish will battle the Buckeyes to land this 4-star Defensive End.

The Irish are also targeting another Top Offensive Tackle in Hartland, Wisconsin prospect Ben Bredeson. Bredeson plays for Arrowhead High School. 247Sports rates him as the 26th best overall prospect. Bredeson visited Notre Dame on September 6th for the Michigan game. Notre Dame will need to fight off Wisconsin and Michigan for his signature.

Josh King may be the most important recruit in the 2016 Notre Dame football recruiting cycle. King plays for Hinsdale South High School in Darien, Illinois. King ranks as the 3rd best Strongside Defensive End in the 2016 class. As with almost all of the top midwestern players, Brian Kelly will need to beat Urban Meyer at his own game.

The Southlake Christian Academy Running Back Robert Washington is at the top of Notre Dame’s board for Running Backs. However, with the departure of Tony Alford, his interest in Notre Dame may be up in the air. Regardless, Washington rates as a 3-star recruit. He holds offers from about 40 schools.

Lokeni Toailoa hails from Rialto, California and plays Wilma Amina Carter High School. Toailoa ranks as the 5th best Inside Linebacker and the 123th best overall recruit. Notre Dame will need to fend off southern California powers USC and UCLA but the Irish are definitely in the mix.

Bishop Moore Catholic Offensive Guard Parker Boudreaux is extremely interested in Notre Dame. Boudreaux ranks as one of the best Offensive Guards in the country. Although he holds numerous offers, the Bishop Moore Catholic prospect is focused on Clemson, Miami (FL), Notre Dame and Penn State.

There will likely be no movement until spring practice. With the staff issues, Notre Dame may struggle to hold a Junior Day until later. Additionally, with the stadium offline, the Spring Game may not be a big recruiting event as it has been in the past.
