Notre Dame only has a few slots left in the class. Most likely, depending on transfers, the Irish can take commitments from 6 to 9 more prospects. Therefore, the Irish coaching staff can be more selective and patient for the remainder of this cycle.

Who will be the 12th verbal commitment in the 2016 class? A few prospects are possibilities.

Chase Claypool

The Wide Receiver prospect from British Columbia visited Notre Dame during the “Irish Invasion.” Claypool made an excellent one-handed grab during the workout.

Many recruiting experts believe that the Canadian player could play several positions at the college level including Outside Linebacker and Defensive End. However, the Irish and others are recruiting Claypool as a Wide Receiver.

Claypool has received offers from Oregon, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Nevada, Rice, Rutgers, San Diego State, Utah and Washington.

Experts currently believe that Claypool will select the Irish over the Oregon and Rutgers. Notre Dame vaulted to the top of Claypool’s list following his visit to South Bend. If he decides soon, he will likely select the Irish. However, if this recruitment drags on, Oregon can continue to pitch location to Claypool.

Claypool is participating in the elite camp, “The Opening”, this week.

Adetokunbo Ogundeji

Notre Dame recently entered into the recruitment of Adetokunbo “Ade” Ogundeji. They offered the former Western Michigan commitment on June 25th. Ogundeji visited Notre Dame on June 27th.

The 3-star Defensive End prospect holds offers from Notre Dame, Rutgers, Buffalo, California, Miami (OH), Oregon, Pittsburgh, Toledo and West Virginia.

Ogundeji hails from Walled Lake, Michigan and plays for Walled Lake Central High School.

Experts currently predict that “Ade” will select the Fighting Irish as his college destination.

Devin Studstill

Devin Studstill hails from the same high school, Palm Beach Gardens, as current Freshman Linebacker Tevon Coney.

Studstill received scholarship offers from Miami (FL), Notre Dame, West Virginia, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, N.C. State, North Carolina, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.

All experts believe that Studstill will select the Fighting Irish. The commitment of Spencer Perry may force Studstill to make an earlier decision.
