Adetokunbo Ogundeji Expected To Select Irish

Ogundeji will choose between four finalists: Notre Dame, Oregon, Rutgers and Toledo. Of the finalists, Ogundeji has only visited Notre Dame and Rutgers. Notre Dame is currently the favorite for Ogundeji. All experts in 247Sports Crystal Ball are predicting that Ogundeji will select Notre Dame.
The Defensive End prospects measures 6’5″ and weighs 225 lbs. Based on video and photos of Ogundeji, he is a project for Notre Dame Strength and Conditioning Coach Paul Longo.
According to the 247Sports Composite, an aggregate of all recruiting rankings, Ogundeji ranks 794th overall and 48th among Weakside Defensive Ends.
The 3-star Defensive End prospect holds offers from Notre Dame, Rutgers, Buffalo, California, Miami (OH), Oregon, Pittsburgh, Toledo and West Virginia.
The recruitment of Ogundeji is high risk-high reward. Based on his rankings, offer list and the area he plays high school football, Ogundeji has the potential to be a bust at the next level. However, his frame and athleticism indicate the possibility that he could be a solid Weakside Defensive End by his Junior Season.
Notre Dame also needs to replace the pass rushing potential that was lost when Bo Wallace choose not to enroll at Notre Dame and when Jhonny Williams transferred. Ogundeji has the same lean body, long arms and big frame.
Ultimately, the Irish Coaching Staff needs Defensive End prospects in the 2016 class and their options are dwindling after top prospects Josh King and Auston Robertson selected Michigan State. Other than Oluwole Betiku, Notre Dame is currently pursuing the next tier of Defensive Ends.
If (more likely when) Ogundeji picks Notre Dame on Thursday, he will become the 13th member of the 2016 Notre Dame Football recruiting class.
