As the season comes to a close, the Fighting Irish coaching staff is putting on the final touches to what looks to be a solid class. The 2016 class currently ranks 17th in the country according to Rivals.com. Notre Dame holds commitments from 17 prospects including Elder (OH) Offensive Tackle Tommy Kraemer who headlines the class.

Several important prospects will be making the trek to South Bend, Indiana this weekend. None more important than Oluwole Betiku. Betiku hails from Gardena, California and plays for Junipero Serra High School. According to the 247Sports Composite, he ranks as the country’s top Weakside Defensive End and a 5-star prospect.

Notre Dame needs to hit a home run with Betiku to have any opportunity to land him. Experts currently predict that he will land at Texas A&M. He may also stay in the Los Angeles area and attend USC or UCLA.

Betiku originally committed to UCLA in early August before de-committing in October. So far, he has taken visits to Texas A&M, Florida State and USC.

All-Purpose Player – Damian Alloway

Notre Dame will also receive a visit from Summit (CA) High School prospect Damian Alloway. He is making his second visit to South Bend. Alloway unofficially visited Notre Dame on July 23rd.

Alloway fits the “Z” position well. He ranks as a 4-star prospect and the 174th prospect in the nation.

Experts currently predict that Alloway will select Notre Dame over Oregon and UCLA. If any recruit will commit to Notre Dame, it would probably be Alloway.

A Pair of Michigan Prospects

The Fighting Irish will also host two 2016 prospects from Michigan. Wide Receiver Jordan Brewer and Defensive Tackle Christian Boyd are extremely unknown. Brewer only has highlights and Boyd’s 247Sports profile is very sparse.

Despite their status, the Irish may be looking for preferred walk-ons or may be putting this prospects on the back-burner just in case the Irish miss on other players.
