Notre Dame Lands C.J. Holmes
By Bobby Norell
C.J. Holmes “catches” Notre Dame.
Since last month’s Irish Invasion there has been a ton of buzz between Notre Dame and four-star recruit C.J. Holmes. Holmes showed very well at Notre Dame’s annual recruiting camp, and he loved everything Notre Dame had to offer. Holmes made his love for the Irish official on Friday morning as he released his commitment video via Bleacher Report.
He chose the Irish in a very creative way. In the video it has him fishing off a boat and first he reels in an Alabama helmet and then he tosses it back. Then he reels in a Tennessee jersey, and again tosses it back. Finally he reels in a leprechaun and decides to keep it.

Holmes adds to what is turning into a very good class. Holmes is listed as an athlete, so he has the ability to lineup in the backfield as a running back or in the slot as a wide receiver. Brian Kelly is adding another versatile player.
Right now he’s only ranked the 292nd player in the country, but that ranking is bound to go up this weekend. Holmes is scheduled to appear in The Opening this weekend, which one of the biggest prospect camps in the country. With another good performance his ranking will go higher.
As I wrote last week, Holmes is high school teammates with another four-star recruit in Tarik Black. There has been speculation that wherever Black decides to go, Holmes would follow. So now that Holmes is the first to commit, it could now be a situation where Black decides to follow Holmes.

With the commitment of Holmes Notre Dame now has the seventh best recruiting class according to 247Sports.com. There are still plenty of big recruits out there, and many of them are high on Notre Dame. So this ranking could get even higher has this recruiting cycle progresses.
