It's official, Jeremiyah Love is the latest (and greatest) Doak Walker Award winner, and after receiving the award, the Notre Dame running back had one of the greatest reactions ever.
"There’s a lot of weight that comes with that. I’m setting the standard for running backs here at Notre Dame," Love said. "I’m just hoping the next guys that come after me can set a higher standard than I did."
Love became the first-ever Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back to receive the award, which is given to the best RB in the country every season.
Jeremiyah Love isn't done making Notre Dame history
Love, who just wrapped up his junior season, has already set numerous program records throughout his time with the Irish.

The running back owns the Notre Dame records for single-season touchdowns (21), tied the rushing touchdown record (18), and earned the most single-game rushing yards ever at Notre Dame Stadium (228 yards vs. the USC Trojans).
He became the first-ever Fighting Irish running back with multiple 90-yard rushing plays when he earned his second in Notre Dame's win over Boston College with a 94-yard touchdown run.
Simply put, he is a monster in the backfield and undeniably earned the Doak Walker Award. This season alone, he earned 1,372 rushing yards on 199 carries for 18 touchdowns on the ground. He also earned 280 receiving yards for three touchdowns through the air.
More likely than not, Love will declare for the 2026 NFL Draft and end his time with the Irish, even though that's not what the rest of the team is hoping for.
"Now I gotta convince him to come back for one more year," Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman said on ESPN after Love received the Doak Walker.
Now it's just time to see what else he can do for the Irish, even without Notre Dame playing in a bowl game, and if he can secure the Heisman Trophy as well.
