A former Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback has had himself quite a career after his playing days. Brandon Wimbush has already won one award from Forbes because of the success he’s had. Now he’s making the jump to a new industry.

Wimbush, a former starting quarterback for the Fighting Irish and later the UCF Golden Knights, joined the new wrestling league started by Hulk Hogan. Hogan and WCW personality Eric Bischoff founded the Real American Freestyle League.

Wimbush, who has used his Notre Dame Fighting Irish education, is the league’s new chief of staff. He will “oversee operations, create processes, kickstart departments, and work across all levels of the brand.” The league has gotten off to a good start and will have its first event this August.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish having extreme success in SEC country

Marcus Freeman and his staff have been quite successful in recruiting kids from all over the country, but especially from SEC land. Some of that success is due simply to Freeman's extreme charisma, but he believes there’s another factor.

Speaking to the media last week about a number of subjects, he touched on why he’s recruiting the South so well. He said he believes the Notre Dame football team’s successful run in the playoffs last year, especially after the Irish beat Georgia, is a big reason why.

He seems to have his hand on the pulse of those kids he’s recruiting. Maybe even better than recruiting analysts.

Tommy Rees is about to have a massive headache on his hands in Shedeur Sanders

Former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees has had a meteoric rise in the NFL. He moved to the Cleveland Browns last year and was promoted to offensive coordinator this offseason.

When he agreed to the promotion, Rees probably didn’t see the headache that was the team’s quarterback race coming. However, according to insiders, former Oregon and Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel is beating Shedeur Sanders out for the QB1 job. It stands to reason that Shedeur’s father, Deion “Prime Time Sanders,” will soon make OTAs and fall camp a circus.

The ACC has had significant success in the College Baseball Regionals

While the Notre Dame baseball team didn’t make regionals, its conference has impressively shown off its power. One has to wonder if Shawn Stiffler’s squad might have been slighted, considering how good the teams he faced this year have been.

The Louisville Cardinals took advantage of Wright State knocking off Vanderbilt to win the Nashville Regional. Miami is in the Regional Finals against Southern Miss on Monday. Florida State is headed to the Super Regionals out of Tallahassee, UNC faces Oklahoma in the Chapel Hill Regional Final on Monday; and Wake Forest is still alive in the Knoxville Regional.

Finally, Duke won the Athens Regional, leaving only NC State and Clemson officially eliminated. One has to wonder if the Notre Dame Fighting Irish might have pulled off an upset if they had made the postseason.
