Turns out that the Notre Dame football team wasn’t done reshaping its staff this offseason.

The Irish look done hiring actual assistant coaches, but that doesn’t mean Marcus Freeman and company aren’t done rounding up as much talent as possible. On Tuesday, that addition appears to be someone who will specifically be able to help wide receivers coach Mike Brown making his unit that much better.

According to FootballScoop, the Notre Dame football team has added an offensive analyst in Dom Spalding. Spalding’s hire comes after the Irish lost wide receivers assistant Michael Bearden to the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

Since Bearden left, the Blue and Gold needed to find someone who could help Brown keep improving the receiver corps. Spalding has plenty of experience in that area. After most recently being on staff at Big Ten program Northwestern and previously logging multiple seasons at Youngstown State, he’s coming to South Bend specifically to work with Brown.

It’s already a bit of a coup that Brown is still around to be worked with. Earlier this year, there were several reports that the NFL came calling for the Notre Dame wide receiver coach. However, he turned down those entreaties and is coming back for another season under Freeman.

2025 could be a big one for Brown and the Notre Dame football wide receiver corps. The Irish have some question marks at quarterback. Especially just who will start. And whoever does in the job will need some top notch performances from their pass catchers.
