It appears that the Notre Dame football saga with Derek Meadows is unofficially, but really officially over. There was a time when the Fighting Irish looked like they might be able to get back in the race for the receiver.

There was a time when he was very obviously their top wide receiver target. And when he chose LSU over the Irish, it still seemed like they were in the fight until signing day. However, things have changed with just days before Meadows can sign on the dotted line. It looks like he’s staying in the SEC, just not with the Bayou Bengals.

If there is some good news for Notre Dame football fans, it’s that the Michigan Wolverines, who made a late push for Meadows, also look like they’re getting shut out.

Notre Dame football loses out on Derek Meadows

With Tigers quarterback commit Bryce Underwood flipping to Michigan, it seemed like Meadows would follow him to the Big Ten. However on Wednesday 247Sports Tom Loy put in a crystal ball pick in for the nation’s No. 119 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings to land at Alabama.

Should it happen, it would be the latest absolutely bonkers flip story of the last few weeks. Alabama has seen its fair share of recruiting losses. As has LSU. And of course, the Crimson Tide have also lost on the field.

However, it looks like Kalen Deboer and company are going to beat LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame football for one of the best platers in the 2025 class.
