Notre Dame football could be the victor in Derek Meadows battle after all
The Notre Dame football team has especially had a rough year recruiting wide receivers. However as we get closer to National Signing Day it looks like the tide might be turning. At least for one player in particular.
Derek Meadows has long been one of, if not the top-rated prospect on the Fighting Irish’ board for the 2025 cycle (especially when they had Deuce Knight in the fold). However, despite fighting hard for him, the school initially lost the battle to LSU.
It appears as though at least one analyst believes Meadows could eventually sign on the dotted line with Notre Dame Football. And with just weeks to go before NSD, the flip could be coming soon after he visited South Bend to watch the Irish pound Florida State, 52-3.

“Crystal Ball may have been wrong initially…” Loy wrote on Twitter this week. ‘But pen hasn’t hit paper yet. This recruitment is going to be one to keep a VERY close eye on in the next few weeks.”
The Crystal Ball Loy is talking about was a prediction that the Fighting Irish would secure Meadows's commitment.
“Mike Brown, Mike Denbrock recruiting him extremely hard,” Loy said in a recent video. “This is the guy they want. We keep talking about Notre Dame taking that next step as a class. You need to land these four guys or at least three of them if you're trying to take that step.”
“So Mike Brown, Mike Denbrock, like I said, recruiting Derek Meadows really hard. He's committed to LSU. For him, behind the scenes, if he goes to Michigan, I think the only way he ends up in Ann Arbor is if Bryce Underwood flips. So that really opens the door for Notre Dame. So if Bryce sticks with LSU, I do not see him going to Michigan. I think he's really looking for a reason to not go to LSU and that really opens the door for Notre Dame. So with a big visit, he almost committed the last time he was on campus before committing to LSU, we'll see if this one's a game changer."
So far, Derek Meadows hasn’t flipped, but Notre Dame football looks like it’s sitting pretty.
