Notre Dame OL ‘band of brothers’ could blaze path to a National Title

The Notre Dame football team has spent a lot of time this spring trying to find the perfect mix-and-match for a group that will lead them to a National Title in 2026. Now that the Fighting Irish are just a few days away from their version of the spring game, offensive line coach Joe Rudolph believes he's found his 'band of brothers."

“I know Anthonie [Knapp] can play left tackle,” Rudolph told the media earlier this spring. “I don't have a problem with that. Really finding the opportunity to let these guys settle in. I've been able to do that with most of the guys. There's a couple that are holding down multiple hats, but not many.”

Notre Dame football's offensive line is a 'band of brothers'

"I think everything is very active competitively," Rudolph explained of his charges in this version of the Notre Dame offensive line. "We talk long and hard about being like a band of brothers in there. You're helping your brother get better by how you perform. You're coaching him, and you're pushing him."

Among the guys who are really showing out this spring is freshman Will Black. He seems to have forced the issue to the point where he'll be part of that "band" expected to lead a surge for the National Title.

Charles Jagusah contunies being the question mark for Notre Dame

Some of the mix-and-match has to do with Charles Jagusah, who the coaching staff hoped would be showing better signs of healing from a non-football-related incident last summer. While the staff would love to have him back for the spring and doesn't love the uncertainty surrounding whether he'll even be back for the start of the fall, the group has managed to slide around and become the right mix that gives Rudolph hope for a run this season.

Notre Dame has had some solid offensive lines before now. However, this group could truly be ready to take some serious fire and come out the other end looking a "best in the nation" level of good
