Cam Hart wait during 2024 NFL Draft worth it as he joins a Notre Dame teammate
Notre Dame football star Cam Hart had to wait a while. In fact, he had to wait until the beginning of the 5th round of the 2024 NFL Draft before he finally got the call. That's the bad news. That the insulting news.
The good news is that now that he's finally been selected, he'll get to play alongside a former Notre Dame football teammate. Maybe he and Joe Alt can even car pool out ot San Diego to meet their new head coach.
With the 140th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers took their second Notre Dame football star. Considering that Hart had an outside shot to be a second round pick, and was thought to be a 3rd round pick at worst, it's safe to assume head coach Jim Harbaugh was more than a little thrilled to see the talented cornerback still sitting there in the 5th.

Perhaps during that car ride, Alt and Hart can compare notes on just how different their draft experiences were. After all, the Notre Dame football offensive tackle didn't have to wait at all before his name was called.
In fact, it's possible he went earlier than many thought he would, as the majority of the mock drafts felt he would go 6th or 7th.
Now that the wait is over, Cam Hart officially becomes the fourth Notre Dame football player to get selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. He joins Alt, offensive tackle Blake Fisher (2nd round to the Houston Texans) and Marist Liufau (3rd round to the Dallas Cowboys) as guys taken so far.
These later rounds could be busy for the Fighting Irish. Running back Audric Estime is currently the best available running back. Linebacker JD Bertrand, edge Javontae Jean-Baptiste and quarterback Sam Hartman are hoping to hear their names called as well.
