There’s been much talk and rumors about where Notre Dame football stands with its quarterback commit. Deuce Knight is the top target for the Irish. He’s the top commit. And there are some worries that he might eventually end up with Ole Miss.

It feels like things go back and forth when it comes to where the Fighting Irish sit with Knight. On Thursday, an analyst even made it clear that the smoke to Knight possibly looking at the Rebels.

On the other hand, everything Knight does, even what he wears, points to his loyalty to Notre Dame football. And then there’s this weekend and yet another trip to South Bend.

Notre Dame football gets Deuce Knight in town for official visit

While the Irish are all about trying to land the best quarterback they can, they’ll have yet another opportunity to step up and try and solidify things. Knight is in South Bend for his 10th trip to town since his recruitment began.

This time around, he’s on an official visit. That has to be a good sign. He also happens to be doing what he does best. He’ll almost certainly be peer recruiting guys like Derek Meadows and Ivan Taylor.

Guys that are not commits to the Irish but could be in the very near future. And in the meantime, he’ll be repping what Marcus Freeman and company are building, despite all the rumors that he has a wandering eye.

There’s no denying that Knight Watch is getting a bit obsessive as we get closer to the regular season. There are some who absolutely believe sooner or later, he’ll decommit.

Despite all those expectations, he’s still a member of the 2025 ND class. He’s one of the best members of that class. And he’s someone who seems to be working even harder to be the face of the class.

All of that points to Notre Dame football still being in very good standing. Even if there’s going to be some trepidation right up until signing day.
