Notre Dame football continues on as 'dream school' for OL target, 'what's not to like?'
Count offensive lineman Ben Nichols among those who bumped the Notre Dame football team near the top of the list of schools he's considering thanks in large part to an official offer on Pot of Gold day. The question has long been just how solid is he on the Fighting Irish since that offer. It appears that once again, Marcus Freeman and company have the 3-star 2026 prospect on lock down.
If he's not a sure fire guy to commit at some point, Notre Dame certainly stands out. Has stood out. And will continue to stand out as his recruiting moves forward. Ben Nichols recently talked to recruiting analyst Tyler James about where the Golden Domers stand and it's all good news, even if it's going to be a while before anything is official.
'What's not to like?' about Notre Dame football, says Ben Nichols
"“Notre Dame’s been one of my dream schools. I love the coaches there. They do a great job recruiting me. Beautiful campus, beautiful team, great history — what’s not to like about Notre Dame? Nichols told James.
That doesn't mean that the Irish aren't still going to have some work to do. The offensive lineman -who many scouts believe will move from tackle to guard at the next level - is going to have a very busy month of June.
Nichols is slated to take in Iowa, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Cincinnati and Ohio State in addition to Notre Dame next month. While he's only a 3-star prospect for now, it feels as though he could shoot up the rankings in the coming year as most big-time schools come calling.
However, even with the power programs coming after him hard, the Irish have managed to get a special place in his heart. One has to hope that Notre Dame football can stay one of Ben Nichols dream schools right up until signing day.
