If the Pot of Gold day was the beginning of the next phase of the Notre Dame football team’s recruiting efforts for the 2025 and 2026 class, then this weekend is another big step in the right direction. This weekend, ahead of spring practices ramping up, the Fighting Irish are hosting some very big visitors.

There will actually be more than a dozen visitors in town, including at least one player who just committed to the Notre Dame football team in the last week. While there will actually be a couple of commits taking in the sights and sounds in South Bend, there are three names in town that jump off the page.

Mark Zackery takes in Notre Dame football for a fifth time

The state of Indiana’s top defender has long been considered a lean to the Fighting Irish. One reason why Notre Dame appears in good standing is that Zackery’s trip to town this weekend will have him taking unofficial visits almost a half dozen times.

The 4-star defensive back out of Ben Davis High School has had several recruiting analysts say they believe he’s going to commit to Marcus Freeman and company sometime soon. Could this weekend be when he finally pulls the trigger? It’s not likely, but stranger things have happened.

For now, Zackery is still considering Florida, Cincinnati and Michigan. The Irish will try and get some separation.

Noah Grubbs could be the next big QB target

The 2026 quarterback could be considered the top target for the Irish in his class. He announced earlier this week that he’d be in South Bend to check out practice. The buzz started soon after. However, Michigan and Ohio State also expect to host Grubbs on unofficial visits this weekend. Florida is a player too.

Derek Meadows will get lots of love from Notre Dame football recruiting efforts

Derek Meadows is a fast-rising wide receiver target that now considered among the best after spending some time not being known at all. Meadows is another guy who some analysts believe is leaning towards Notre Dame football, but they’ll have to beat off Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Michigan and Tennessee among others.
