The Notre Dame football team is looking to lock down its 2025 class just a month ahead of National Signing Day. One of the ways the Irish have tried to do that in the last few weeks is try to flip commits to other teams.

This weekend against Florida State, Marcus Freeman and his gang will be hosting a ton of high profile recruits. Among them is Nolan James, out of DePaul Catholic in New Jersey. James is a 3-star back who is currently committed to Boston College.

He’s going to be in South Bend this weekend. Not only is he looking at becoming a member of the Notre Dame football team in the future, but hes also been giving a pretty good chance of the leaving the Golden Eagles. On3 has given the running back  an 88 percent of changing teams.

The Bludn and Gold began recruiting the 5-foot-11, 185-pound James earlier this fall. According to On3, James is among the Top 30 New Jersey recruits and the No. 53 “athlete” nationally in 2025.

Marcus Freeman looks to add a second running back to its class commit list alongside Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit three-star prospect Justin Thurman. James would basically be a replacement for a decommitment from earlier this year in 3-star running back Daniel Anderson.

This isn’t the first time the Notre Dame football team has pivoted like this. Just days after they lost Deuce Knight, they went out and got his replacement, Blake Hebert. Now it looks like they’re gonna get another one just like that, perhaps as soon as this weekend.
