Notre Dame Fighting Irish news: Unanimous All-Americans, more
There's no argument that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish had some impressive performances this year. While there are some fans who consider a 9-3 regular season a failure, however that's not actually the case. Anytime a team has two All-Americans, that team is not a failure.
When those two players are unanimous All-Americans, failure isn't really a word that comes to mind at all. Xavier Watts and Joe Alt are those unanimous vote-getters, showing that Notre Dame football had some serious punch on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Watts and Alt are officially the 35th and 36th unanimous All-America selections in Notre Dame football's famed history. Their selection made the Fighting Irish one of two schools to have such a player this year. It also means that the Golden Domers are third in college football history behind just Alabama and Ohio State.
While Alt has already announced that he's going to take his act on the road and head to the NFL, Notre Dame Fighting Irish faithful are still waiting to see what Xavier Watts does. There's some hope that he'll come back and try and make the All-American team for a second straight year.
